National Memorization Award

The National Youth Department is excited to announce the new Annual Bible Quiz Memorization Award. This does not negate nor take the place of any award given by an individual district. Requirements for the Annual Bible Quiz Memorization Award are as follows:

1. A quizzer must quote an entire chapter, at one time, to a BQ coach or BQ official.
   
   
2. The BQ coach or official must not be the quizzer’s parent. If the coach or official is a parent of the quizzer, the quizzer must quote to another coach or official in the church. In the event the parent is the only BQ coach, the quizzer may quote to their youth leader, youth pastor, pastor, league coordinator, district coordinator, or another adult who has firm understanding of the quoting rules.
   
   
3. The quizzer is permitted four mistakes per chapter. If any word is omitted, repeated, added, or changed, it counts as a mistake. If a quizzer corrects him/herself, it is still a mistake. Each word that is omitted is a mistake.
   
   
4. The quizzer may quote the entire chapter as many times as necessary, by May 13, 2002, to quote within the four-mistake limit.
   
   
5. One chapter must be quoted during a Sunday morning or Sunday evening service. That chapter may have been previously officially quoted so that the number of mistakes in the pulpit will not hinder the award. (Quizzers are also encouraged to quote to their youth groups, but it must be in addition to the Sunday morning or evening service in the church sanctuary.)
   
   
6. The quizzer may start officially quoting any time and must be finished by Monday, May 13, 2002. Only the official national forms will be accepted. These forms must be postmarked or faxed no later than May 13, 2002.
   
   
7. Quizzers in 7th through 12th grade, and who compete in "A" league, must quote all of 1 & 2 Corinthians. Those in 6 through 8 grade, and who compete in "B" league, are only required to quote 1 Corinthians. (However, they may do both books if they desire.)
   
   
8. All BQ coaches and officials are also eligible for this certificate award.
   
   
9. The names of all Memorization Award recipients will be printed in the National Finals Program.

The official forms are available through the District BQ Coordinators. the form may be turned in anytime until May 13, 2002.
