GOD DOESN'T SEE HANDICAPS

For Christopher Kline of Madison Assembly of God, Madison, Alabama, it was a great achievement; for God it was just another step in this young man's life. On March 31, the Tennessee Valley section held their zone Fine Arts Festival in Montgomery, Alabama. This is Christopher's third year competing in the Festival. His first two years of participation, he scored an "Excellent" and a "Superior" respectively. This year he performed "He Believes in You," by Aaron Benward. Everyone (not just our church) waited to hear how he did. As they called out the awards for the Human Video Solo category, we all held our breath.

Many people have come to realize the special gift God has given Christopher. You see, sixteen years ago Christopher was born and was diagnosed with Down's Syndrome. We, his parents, were told he would grow up and be satisfied to sit and do nothing. He would never do anything "normal" children do. Undaunted, we turned Christopher's life over to the Lord and allowed Him to work in his life.

And work He has! Over the years, Christopher has overcome many obstacles - he even attends school. He is a part of regular classes, tried for football in middle school, was named the manager for the team, plays baseball, and has an outstanding jump shot. If you were to ask him what his favorite thing is, he'll quickly tell you it's worshiping God and he wants to preach when he grows up.

As I sat and watched him perform, I noticed the people began to worship God. I saw the tears in their eyes as he finished; God has touched this young man and uses him mightily. When they finally announced his score of "Superior with Invitation" to the District Festival, the applause was thunderous. Many see how hard he works and how his heart pours out God's Word through each performance. This child who doctors claimed would do nothing "normal" has blessed so many through God's anointing. Christopher Kline is living proof of the old saying, "God doesn't make junk." God has a plan for everyone and in His eyes there are no handicaps. Nothing is impossible for our God.
