Why Plant New Churches?

POPULATIONS ARE GROWING FASTER THAN EXISTING CHURCHES.

"No matter how effective and fruitful our churches might be, they are still no match for the thousands, even millions, who still need Christ. Since some churches are not effective and fruitful, then the need is more overwhelming. More and more churches are needed to bring about the harvest for which we earnestly pray." Warren Bullock

NEW CHURCHES ARE MOST EFFECTIVE.

"Since new churches account for almost 80% of salvations, church planting is the most effective form of evangelism." Pastor J. Don George

Nebraska as a Mission Field?

ASSEMBLIES OF GOD CHALLENGE

Over 1 million people live in the top 10 populated counties; there are 28 A/G churches with only 7,000 people in attendance on an average Sunday morning.
Over 700,000 people live in the rural counties statewide; there are 60 A/G churches with only 5,000 people in attendance on an average Sunday morning.
Omaha is the 19th most un-reached city in America per capita.
49 towns between 1,000-5,000 and 6 towns over 5,000 with no A/G church.

LANDSCAPE IS CHANGING

Nebraska population has increased 133,000 since 1990 to nearly 1.8 million people.
"Christian" churches gained only 6,000 in adherents and declined by 32 churches since 1990. Over 50% of churches in Nebraska are in decline or plateau.
Non-Christian religious groups gained 8,200 new adherents and 43 new churches since 1990.
Only 250,000 people claim an Evangelical Church as their home church.
Over 700,000 people in Nebraska claim no religious affiliation at all.

United States as a Mission Field?

~ 80% of churches nationally are in decline or plateau.
~ Nearly 4,000 American churches close their doors every year.
~ The estimated un-reached American population is 195 million people.
~ Non-Christian religious groups are the fastest growing religious group in America.

Why Revitalize Existing Churches?

ALL CHURCHES ARE VALUABLE

"It is not a matter of only planting churches and doing nothing for those who are struggling to be effective. It is not an either/or situation. We must do both. Both require sacrifice and hard work."

NEW LIFE IS POSSIBLE

"The good news is that some churches that have experienced plateau and decline are able to end the hemorrhaging and make a full comeback to healthy Christian ministry." George Barna
